No matter where or in what format you submit, you should always read the submission guidelines for each publication where you're submitting your work. If a publication specifically calls down a certain type/genre of writing, then why submit work in that vein? Additionally, ensuring that your work is laid out in standard manuscript format will go a long way. Work that is properly formatted makes for ease of reading and commenting, and that makes for a happy editor.
First time submitters, take heart. There are plenty of helpful sites that are only a quick web search away!
Does anyone have general submission tips to share?
Okay, you guys, listen. We have decided to kick Submittable to the curb and, with it, the associated reading fees. Online submissions are now FREE (as they should be, right?). Flytrap Uprising is to be a place where many writers can find homes for their work, not just those who can afford to throw three bucks at a possibility. SO, with that said, gather up your wayward stories and whatnot, spit-shine 'em a bit, and send them our way!
Thank you all for the support!
I love the following quote because it not only describes the way I feel about fantasy, but it also describes exactly what sort of thing we're looking to publish.
"Fantasy is my favorite genre for reading and writing. We have more options than anyone else, and the best props and special effects. That means if you want to write a fantasy story with Norse gods, sentient robots, and telepathic dinosaurs, you can do just that. Want to throw in a vampire and a lesbian unicorn while you're at it? Go ahead."

We wanted to extend a hearty THANK YOU to all those who have supported us in our journey thus far. Fist bumps and Bro Hugs to you all! We still have a long road ahead of us, but we are certainly excited about the possibility.
Please remember to share us with your friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, and of course, through this very website. Submissions for our FIRST ISSUE are open. You can find the guidelines HERE.
Our Booster is active and we still need several orders to meet our goal of 50 shirts. WE MUST SELL AT LEAST 15 SHIRTS TO PRINT. Please pass along our booster link so we can meet our print goal. We want everyone to be able to wear these nifty shirts!
Thanks for all your support! We look forward to sharing Flytrap Uprising in a few short months.
In the meantime, feel free to comment with ideas and content that you would like to see in the journal. We want to offer something of interest for everyone, no matter how obscure you may feel those interests are. Share your favorite artists, authors, poets, indie bands, comic strip artists, toy...anything goes!
Let's encourage art. Encourage ideas. Encourage conversation.
